D.A.R.E. has aroused the curiosity in many of our fifth graders here at Trion Elementary.  Each year, local police officers undergo 80 hours plus of special training in areas of drug prevention, child management, classroom management, and other areas of communication to work with our children effectively.

The Varsity Wrestling team faced a couple of  tough teams at the Region Duals last weekend.  "We fell short on a couple of matches that we should have had and that cost us our opportunity to challenge a team for second place," says Coach Brock.  The snow and ice have not slowed down the wrestlers as they have continued working hard over the school break.  The boys will be on the road this week and are headed to Pepperell.  Support our wrestling team!

The Bulldogs are going to be up against some tough teams this season, but we have some talent and experience under our belts.  Injured Seniors McGraw and Coker have returned to the mats to bring aid to the team.  Senior McDonald has yet to see a loss this season, and Clark has brought in several wins for the team. Gary pinned his opponent at Gordon Lee. Wrestling Coach and former State champ Eric Brock says,"Wrestling is all about conditioning and mindset. We work hard and fine tune these skills.  It is up to these boys to make it happen."  Next match is this weekend at Dade County.

The Varsity and JV basketball teams have been keeping up a steady pace over the holidays and are back in action and getting fired up to host Bremen and Mt. Paran this weekend.  Cowart says, "We have some work to do, and I am hoping to see some turnaround this weekend from our girls after last night," in reference to the loss to Darlington.  The Ivester twins along with Bruce are topping the scoreboard each game for the Varsity boys. "It takes a lot of teamwork and heart to make it happen; not just points," says Bruce. "It takes everyone on the court and the bench to keep us pumped up and motivated."

Tuesday night's game against the Ramblers was a victory for our girl's team; however, our Varsity boys came up five points short this time around.  After an intense game first round, the Ramblers were holding strong on their own turf.  Bruce and the Ivester twins led the points for the Dogs but still could not bring it home for the Dogs. The girl's Varsity team did bring in a win for our girls.  Blanchard and Caron had outstanding stats and showed a lot of hustle on offense and defense throughout the game.  Join our teams this Saturday at home.
