After a great season, the THS Golf teams ended the year with many significant accomplishments. The players reached a high point at the end of the season, as John Rollins won the boys individual State Championship, and the Girls Golf Team took second in state. Join us in congratulating these athletes for their great season, and the admirable way in which they represented Trion High School.

The THS Journalism Staff is working on next season’s fall sports program and needs your help with the following:
- RECOGNITION ADS: Place a recognition ad in the program wishing a special player or a team good luck in their upcoming season. Your ad can have pictures, clip art, and a message to the teams and/or specific players. We will be making team and individual pictures this summer if you would like pictures of certain players on the ad. See Recognition Ad form that is attached.
- BUSINESS ADS: If you have a business or know of a business who would like to reserve or purchase ad space in the program, contact the journalism class at the high school or e-mail
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
. See attached Business ad form for ad prices and sizes.
- “ONCE A BULLDOG, ALWAYS A BULLDOG”: If you are a parent of a fall sports participant and you participated in a fall sport when you attended Trion, send a picture of yourself from high school in uniform so that it can be featured alongside your student in the “Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog” section of the program. Send the photo to the school office with your name and the dates you attended or graduated from Trion.

The Trion High Baseball Team takes on the War Eagles of Jenkins County in their Elite Eight matchup today. The Bulldogs are hoping to keep their playoff run going. The first game starts at 4:00 PM and the second game to follow. If neither team wins both games, a tiebreaker "if game" will be played tomorrow. The boys have had an exceptional season, with less than 5 losses and hope to continue advancing in playoffs. Athletic director Justin Brown commented, "We are excited our boys have made it this far and it would be awesome if they could make their way to the final two." The last state win for our baseball team was in 1983 under coach J.W. Greenwood, with greats such as Kenny Gilreath and Stacy Searels, and our own Superintendent Phil Williams leading the team. Coaches Jason Lanham, Steve Gladney, Josh Groce, and Jordan Day have worked very hard all season and are very proud of their boys.

Monday the THS Tennis Team competed in area tournaments at Darlington School. Both the boys and girls will advance to state. The girl’s team placed second with a miniscule loss to Gordon Lee. The boy’s team played Tuesday in the finals and the results are still undetermined.

The teams first played Monday morning in the preliminary rounds. They randomly drew to see who they would play in pro-8 sets. The outcomes of the matches would determine the seeding for the tournament. The boys’ team defeated Woody Gap with a 4-1 score, earning them the first place spot, an automatic state qualification and a first round bye. The girl’s matches however were much more intense with a close 3-2 win, which placed them 4th, right in the middle of the pack. |
